Christiansen effect
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001109
The phenomenon where a transparent material, when immersed in a liquid with a similar refractive index, becomes transparent to light of a specific wavelength. This occurs because the refractive indices match for that particular wavelength, minimizing scattering and reflection. The effect is applied in optical filters and for characterizing the dispersion properties of materials.
