Refract
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004750
To cause a light ray or other wave to change direction as it passes from one medium into another with a different optical density. This bending of light occurs due to a change in the wave's speed. The degree of refraction is governed by Snell's Law, relating the angles of incidence and refraction to the refractive indices of the two media.
