Refraction
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004751
The bending of light or other electromagnetic waves as they pass from one medium to another with a different refractive index. In metallurgy, this principle is applied in optical microscopy to analyze the microstructure of polished metal samples. Different phases within an alloy can exhibit varying refractive properties.
