Refractory metal

A class of metals that are highly resistant to heat and wear, possessing exceptionally high melting points and good strength at elevated temperatures. These metals include tungsten, molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, and rhenium. They are often used in applications requiring extreme thermal stability, such as furnace components or rocket nozzles.
