Regenerative furnace
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004759
A type of industrial furnace that uses exhaust gases to preheat incoming combustion air or fuel, thereby recovering heat and improving energy efficiency. This is achieved by passing hot exhaust gases through a checkerwork of refractory bricks, which then transfer heat to the cold incoming air. Open-hearth furnaces often employ this design.
