Constringence
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001312
A measure of a transparent material's dispersion, indicating how much its refractive index varies with the wavelength of light. It is inversely proportional to the material's dispersive power. Constringence is quantified by the Abbe number, where higher values indicate lower dispersion and less chromatic aberration.
