Apochromat

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000246

A lens or objective corrected for chromatic aberration at three wavelengths, bringing red, green, and blue light to a common focus, and for spherical aberration at two wavelengths. This gives better colour rendition and sharpness than an achromat, which is corrected for chromatic aberration at only two wavelengths. Apochromatic objectives are specified by their numerical aperture and magnification.
