Spherical aberration

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005515

An optical aberration where light rays passing through a spherical lens or mirror at different distances from the optical axis are focused at different points. This results in a blurred image, as the rays do not converge to a single focal point. It is a common defect in simple lenses and can be corrected by using aspheric lenses or combinations of lenses.
