Defocus
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001632
The state where an optical system is adjusted so that light rays from a point object do not converge precisely at the image plane, resulting in a blurred image. This condition occurs when the object or image plane is not at the system's focal point. Defocus is a common optical aberration that can be intentionally introduced for artistic effect or to measure lens performance.
