Stigmatism
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005658
The optical condition where a lens or mirror focuses light rays from a single point source to a single, sharp image point. This is the ideal state of an optical system, free from aberrations such as astigmatism, where rays from a point source form two separate focal lines. A perfectly stigmatic system produces clear and undistorted images.
