Decentre
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001620
To displace an optical element, such as a lens or mirror, from its ideal position along or perpendicular to the optical axis. This misalignment introduces aberrations into the optical system, degrading image quality. Decentration can be intentional, as in some aberration correction schemes, or unintentional due to manufacturing tolerances or mechanical stress.
