Conformal optics
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001302
Optical systems where the outer surface of the optical element conforms to the aerodynamic shape of a platform, such as an aircraft or missile. This design minimizes aerodynamic drag and heating while maintaining optical performance. Conformal optics often employ complex, non-spherical surfaces to correct for aberrations introduced by their non-traditional shapes.
