Astigmatism
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000294
An optical aberration where a lens or mirror fails to focus light rays from a single point into a single focal point, instead forming two distinct focal lines. This occurs when the optical system has different focal lengths in different meridians. Astigmatism causes blurred or distorted images, and in human vision, it is corrected with cylindrical lenses.
