Aberration
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000040
A deviation from ideal image formation in an optical system, causing the image to be imperfectly reproduced. These imperfections arise from the physical properties of light and lenses, preventing a perfect point-to-point correspondence between object and image. Aberrations can be monochromatic, such as spherical aberration, or chromatic, like color fringing.
