Apochromatism

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000248

The state of an optical system where chromatic aberration is corrected for three distinct wavelengths, causing them to converge at the same focal point. This correction also reduces spherical aberration for two wavelengths, yielding images with high fidelity and minimal color fringing. Apochromatism is achieved through the careful selection and combination of multiple lens elements made from different types of glass.
