Achromatic lens
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000070
A compound lens designed to correct for chromatic aberration, which is the color fringing that occurs when a simple lens fails to focus all wavelengths of light at the same point. It is constructed by combining two or more lens elements made from glasses with different amounts of dispersion, such as crown and flint glass. The design brings two selected wavelengths, typically red and blue, into a common focal plane.
