Asymmetric

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000855

Describing a molecule or object that lacks any element of symmetry, meaning it cannot be superimposed on its mirror image. Such molecules are chiral and exist as enantiomers. The presence of an asymmetric carbon atom is a common, though not exclusive, cause of molecular asymmetry.
