Handedness

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005089

A property of an object or molecule that describes its non-superimposable mirror image relationship, analogous to a left and right hand. An object possessing handedness is chiral, meaning it cannot be superimposed on its mirror image by any combination of rotations and translations. This property is central to stereochemistry and the behavior of enantiomers.
