Asymmetric photochemistry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000861

Photochemical reactions that produce a chiral product with an excess of one enantiomer, starting from an achiral or racemic precursor. This is achieved by using chiral light, a chiral sensitizer, or a chiral auxiliary in the reaction system. The enantiomeric excess of the product is a measure of the reaction's selectivity.
