Asymmetry factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000868
A measure of the peak shape in chromatography, calculated as the ratio of the distance from the peak maximum to the trailing edge to the distance from the peak maximum to the leading edge, both measured at 10% of the peak height. A value of 1 indicates a perfectly symmetrical peak. Values greater than 1 suggest tailing, while values less than 1 indicate fronting.
