Tailing factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011804
A measure of chromatographic peak asymmetry equal to the ratio of the rear peak width to the front peak width, both read at 10% of the peak height. A value above 1 indicates tailing, a value below 1 indicates fronting, and a symmetric peak gives 1.0. Pharmacopoeial methods instead use the full width at 5% of the height divided by twice the front width, which is a different quantity.
