Electronic stability
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003755
The condition in which a species has no other electronic state of lower energy available among those built from the same number of electrons at a given nuclear geometry. A species is electronically unstable when such a state exists. In computational work, a closed-shell wave function that can relax into a lower-energy unrestricted solution is called unstable in this sense.
