Zero-zero absorption or emission
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012806
The electronic transition between the lowest vibrational level of the ground electronic state and the lowest vibrational level of an excited electronic state. This transition corresponds to the pure electronic energy difference between the two states, without any change in vibrational energy. It typically appears as the highest energy (shortest wavelength) band in an emission spectrum or the lowest energy (longest wavelength) band in an absorption spectrum.
