Stromal cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013599
A cell that forms the connective tissue of an organ, providing structural support and secreting extracellular matrix. These cells, including fibroblasts, adipocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells, are distinct from the parenchymal cells that perform the organ's specific functions. They contribute to tissue maintenance, repair, and immune responses, and are found in nearly all tissues and organs.
