Fibrosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004405
The formation of excessive fibrous connective tissue in an organ or tissue, often as a reparative or reactive process. This condition results from chronic inflammation or injury, leading to the overproduction and deposition of extracellular matrix components, primarily collagen. Fibrosis can impair organ function, as seen in conditions like liver cirrhosis or pulmonary fibrosis.
