Cirrhosis

A severe and irreversible scarring of the liver, characterized by the replacement of healthy liver tissue with fibrous scar tissue and regenerative nodules. This condition impairs liver function, leading to a range of complications such as portal hypertension, ascites, and liver failure. Common causes include chronic alcohol abuse, viral hepatitis, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
