Primary biliary cirrhosis

A chronic autoimmune liver disease characterized by the progressive destruction of small bile ducts within the liver, leading to cholestasis and eventually cirrhosis. This condition primarily affects women and is associated with the presence of antimitochondrial antibodies in the blood. Treatment focuses on slowing disease progression and managing symptoms.
