Parenchymal cell

A cell of the functional tissue of an organ or gland, as opposed to the connective tissue framework of stromal cells that supports it. Hepatocytes in the liver and renal tubular epithelial cells in the kidney are examples. Parenchymal cells typically make up most of an organ's mass.
