Epithelium

A type of animal tissue that forms the outer surface of the body and lines internal organs, cavities, and glands. It consists of closely packed cells arranged in one or more layers, providing protection, secretion, absorption, and sensation. Examples include the epidermis of the skin and the lining of the gastrointestinal tract.
