Dermis

The layer of skin located beneath the epidermis, composed primarily of dense irregular connective tissue. It provides structural support, elasticity, and strength to the skin, containing blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, and sweat glands. The dermis is divided into two main layers: the papillary layer and the reticular layer.
