Skin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010929
The outermost protective organ of the body, composed of multiple layers, primarily the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. In bioanalytical chemistry, skin is a common matrix for sampling and analysis, particularly for non-invasive or minimally invasive diagnostic methods. It can be used to detect biomarkers, drugs, or environmental contaminants through sweat, transdermal patches, or direct surface analysis.
