A dimensionless factor that quantifies the additional pressure drop or enhancement to flow caused by damage or stimulation near the wellbore. A positive skin factor indicates formation damage, such as from drilling fluid invasion, which impedes fluid flow into the well. A negative skin factor indicates improved flow due to stimulation, like acidizing or fracturing.
