Effective wellbore radius

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001256

A theoretical radius that represents the effective flow capacity of a well, accounting for any damage or stimulation near the wellbore. It is calculated by adjusting the actual wellbore radius by the skin factor, which quantifies the additional pressure drop or gain due to near-wellbore conditions. A larger effective wellbore radius indicates improved flow efficiency.
