Eigenvector
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001257
A non-zero vector that, when a linear transformation is applied to it, changes only by a scalar factor, known as the eigenvalue. It represents a direction along which the transformation acts by stretching or compressing, without rotation. In reservoir characterization, eigenvectors are used in principal component analysis to identify dominant directions of variability in petrophysical data.
