Varimax rotation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004013
A statistical method applied during factor analysis to simplify and clarify the interpretation of large, multivariate datasets from well logs or seismic attributes. The technique rotates the initial factors to a new position in the data space that maximizes the variance of the squared factor loadings. This process results in a clearer pattern where each original variable is associated with only one or a few factors, aiding in the identification of distinct electrofacies or lithofacies.
