Moment

A measure of the tendency of a force to cause rotation about a point or axis, calculated as the product of the force and the perpendicular distance from the point to the line of action of the force. In drilling, torque is a moment that causes rotation of the drill string. Its unit is typically foot-pounds or Newton-meters.
