Moldic porosity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002417
Pore space within a rock formed by the dissolution of soluble grains or fossils, leaving behind an empty cavity that preserves the shape of the original particle. This type of porosity is common in carbonate rocks where shells or ooids have been dissolved. Moldic pores are often poorly connected, which can reduce overall permeability.
