A measure of the uniformity of grain sizes within a sedimentary rock. Well-sorted rocks have grains of nearly the same size, while poorly sorted rocks contain grains with a broad distribution of sizes. Sorting influences porosity and permeability, affecting how fluids flow through a reservoir rock.
