Gravity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001736
The force of attraction between two bodies, proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. In geophysics, this force is measured to detect variations in subsurface density, which can indicate the presence of geological structures such as salt domes or anticlines. Gravity measurements are typically expressed in milligals (mGal).
