Gravity units

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001743

A unit of measurement for gravity anomalies, commonly used in gravity surveys to detect subsurface density variations. One gravity unit (GU) is equal to 0.1 milligal (mGal) or 100 microgals. These units quantify the acceleration due to gravity, which is influenced by the density of underlying rock formations.
