Gravity toolface
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001742
The angular orientation of a directional drilling tool, such as a bent sub or mud motor, relative to the high side of the wellbore. This measurement, determined by accelerometers within a measurement-while-drilling tool, indicates which way the tool is pointing and guides steering decisions. Gravity toolface is expressed in degrees, where 0° represents the high side of the hole and 180° represents the low side.
