Gal
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001600
A unit of acceleration equal to one centimeter per second squared (cm/s²), commonly used in gravimetry. It is a non-SI unit, named after Galileo Galilei. In formation evaluation, it is used to express the magnitude of gravity anomalies measured by gravimeters, which can indicate variations in subsurface rock density.
