Gravimetry
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001735
The measurement of the Earth's gravitational field and its variations. This geophysical method is used to detect subsurface density contrasts, which can be indicative of geological structures such as salt domes, faults, and sedimentary basins. Gravimetry provides information about the large-scale distribution of mass within the Earth.
