Periodogram

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002746

A tool used in spectral analysis to estimate the power spectral density of a signal, such as a seismic trace or well log data. It identifies dominant frequencies within the data, which can correspond to geological features or periodic variations. The periodogram is calculated by taking the squared magnitude of the discrete Fourier transform of the signal.
