Proteoglycomics

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009596

The large-scale study of proteoglycans, which are proteins covalently attached to one or more glycosaminoglycan chains. Proteoglycomics aims to comprehensively identify and quantify all proteoglycans in a biological sample, investigating their structures, functions, and interactions. Analytical methods such as mass spectrometry combined with liquid chromatography are used to characterize the protein core and the highly variable glycosaminoglycan structures, which differ in sulfation and epimerization patterns.
