Epimerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004028
A stereochemical transformation in which one epimer is converted into another. This process involves the inversion of configuration at only one chiral center in a molecule that has multiple chiral centers. Epimerization often occurs under acidic or basic conditions and can lead to a mixture of epimers at equilibrium.
