Heteropolysaccharide

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005270

A polysaccharide composed of two or more different types of monosaccharide units. These monomers are joined by glycosidic linkages to form linear or branched chains with repeating or non-repeating sequences. Many heteropolysaccharides, such as hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and heparin, are glycosaminoglycans found in the extracellular matrix of animal connective tissues, where they contribute to structural integrity and lubrication.
