Glycoform

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004937

A specific variant of a glycoprotein or glycolipid that differs in its attached glycan (carbohydrate) structures. These variations arise from differences in glycosylation, the enzymatic process of adding glycans, which can be influenced by cell type, developmental stage, or disease state. Different glycoforms of a single protein can exhibit distinct biological activities or functions.
