Glycogene
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004938
A gene that encodes an enzyme or protein involved in the biosynthesis, modification, or degradation of glycans (carbohydrates). These genes regulate the complex pathways of glycosylation, which is the process of attaching carbohydrate chains to proteins or lipids. Examples include glycosyltransferases, glycosidases, and nucleotide sugar transporters.
