Protein complex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013443
A quaternary structure formed when two or more polypeptide chains, known as protein subunits, bind to each other through non-covalent interactions. These subunits can be identical (homomeric) or different (heteromeric), and their specific arrangement is integral to the complex's biological function. The ribosome is a large protein complex responsible for protein synthesis.
